Policy 405.1.4 (3) Leaves of Absence. An academic year(s) in which leave without pay is taken will not count as part of the faculty member's pretenure probationary period. When a tenure-eligible faculty member is on any leave of absence with pay for one or more semesters in an academic year, upon recommendation from the faculty member's department head or supervisor, director (where applicable), and the dean or vice president, the Provost may approve a hiatus from the faculty member's pre-tenure probationary in cases such as, but not limited to, Family and Medical Leave, Sick Leave, Military Leave, and Jury and Witness leave.

Faculty Code Change

The proposed P&T code changes were based on research conducted across faculty members from the Colleges of Science, Agriculture, Engineering, and Natural Resources. For the most part, the P&T process is a smooth experience. But, occasionally difficulties do arise. These code changes will help to mitigate potential abuses and attempt to provide some guidance.

The following presentations were made to the Faculty Senate meeting held on February 7, 2005. Faculty Senate voted and passed the proposed code changes.

Tenure Clock Extension

The faculty senate approved a policy change regarding tenure-clock extensions. The policy code change ensures that consistent standards are followed when individuals with longer probationary periods are evaluated. In August 2006, The Board of Trustees passed the policy and it was put into code.
