ADVANCE at USU Highlights
The ADVANCE Interactive Theatre Project
Transforming Academic Culture through Theatre
The ADVANCE Interactive Theatre Project is an innovative approach to improving the climate for historically underrepresented groups in academia. A truly unique format, interactive theatre combines true-to-life scripted performances with interactive discussions between the audience and the actors, who remain in character. An experienced facilitator—specially trained to work both in an academic setting and within the framework of interactive theatre—manages each discussion.
By engaging equity issues, such as discrimination or unconscious gender bias in a format that is both safe and affirming, interactive theatre is producing outstanding results for institutions seeking to facilitate meaningful change.
